The following rules apply to all chat boxes:

Note: Admins reserve the right to delete any posted comment they find offensive.

1.Language: We will have younger members, so keep the language PG13. An admin will address it if they find you to be too abrasive in the box. After three warnings, you will be banned from the box and receive a PM from an admin. Also avoid Chatspeak.

2.Content: Again, keep it PG! We don't mind hearing about your lives, but keep the gory details to a minimum. Our characters have an IC box for fun conversation, so take serious content to a full thread on the board. Also, the C-Box is not your facebook status. We do not need a constant commentary on your actions. BRB is perfectly acceptable.

3.Interpersonal: Be kind to each other. If you have a problem with another member, find an online admin and take it to PM. Our goal is to keep the drama where it belongs - in threads!

4.Links: We allow the sharing of links in the C-box as long as they follow rules 1 and 2.

5.Advertising: We are thrilled you want to share another RP with us, but we do NOT allow advertising in the C-box and members will be issued warnings, non-members will be banned. Post all ads in the Advertising section of the board.

6.Discord: All rules for the the HOtW Cbox apply to our Discord chat. Keep in mind that Discord is a free chat space and if something is said that offends you, please speak to staff. If it is a member of staff, contact another staff member and it will be worked out. This will never be held against a member.

7.Plotting: Keep plotting to a minimum. It's exciting to talk plots, but new members and guests use the c-box for questions and to feel out a site. Let's make a good impression!

8.App Bumping: Do not use the C-Box to bump your app as an admin may miss it. Always post back to your app.

9.Want Ad Plugging: Do not constantly bring up or link want ads in the box. Your want ads are posted on the board. Others will find them. Be patient.

10.Absences: You can tell everyone in the C-box, but it's not official until a notice is posted in the OOC area. This saves you for any activity checks and from losing your characters. Post all absences there.

The Year is 1869
WELCOME TO HEART OF THE WEST!

Welcome to Coalchapel, Wyoming. It's either hot as hell or it chills you to the bone. Established in 1858, the place sprang up from the ramshackle church established by criminal-turned-miner-turned-preacher Yul Pierce, and while the town has grown over the past ten years, so have the conflicts.
Cattle Barons want to expand their herds, while farmers are struggling to work the land. Greedy Miners are at odds with each other and the Natives who believe their land is sacred. The soldiers of Fort Langden have their hands full managing the situation and local law enforcement who resent their presence. Men and women looking for their fortunes have been flooding in since the rumors of gold running under the mountain came to light, and while the influx of people has been good for business, the proprietors are just waiting for the bubble to burst.
The place is a powder keg and all it'll take is a spark to set it off.
Come explore the sprawling western town with its various array of characters or wander the range where the multitude of cattle roam, get involved in the lives of farmers struggling to hold off the pushy cattle barons encroaching on their lands or explore the dangerous world of coal mining.
Is the government corrupt?
Are the farmers right in their wild accusations?
Is there something fishy going on with the coal mines? Is there really a massive vein of gold deep within the mountains just waiting to be discovered? Or will you create your own adventure?

NEW YEAR EVENT: The New year has come so we are waving goodbye to 1868 and celebrating the dawn of 1869 in a New Year Event. The Christmas event is now winding up in "Time is Relative" forum. All threads from 1868 will be found there and may be continued in this forum.

It's Christmas in Coalchapel!
GameDate: Friday, December 24, 1868.
From May 20th, 2017 everyone is invited to join in the festivities of Christmas at Heart of the West. This event will lead up to the annual change of game year and the 1st anniversary of the site in July.
