Dusty
Who is Dusty? Well I can tell you she is someone who enjoys creativity in many forms, the logic of code, the turn of a good phrase, historical genres (among many) and well-rounded written plots.

Hailing from the Southern Hemisphere, you may find her online at ‘weird’ times; however, it is just her time zone coming into play and she is always around every day at some point. So if you can’t find her in the Cbox, she is always available via PM.

Together, the founders have a combined experience level of over 50 years, so you are in good hands. So draw up a chair by the log fire and stay a while or longer and immerse yourself into the world that has been created here at Heart of the West!

Flint
Howdy all! You can call me Flint or Her Royal Highness or, of course, the ever popular Magnum PI, but if you can’t remember all that, I still answer to Tens :). I started writing when I was young but it wasn’t until my college years that I discovered RP. Yeah, never looked back, haha. I adore characters and plot lines and have way too many of them, if I’m being honest, but the heart wants what the heart thinks it wants! I play mainly males, finding them to be more comfortable in my mind, but I have my odd princess and I’m always ready to play! I do some graphic work for the site, advertising, and canon writing, and I can always help any of you with app and sizing issues, so just holler!
Shooter
Shooter has been writing with her fellow admins for up to five years! In 2014 she earned her degree in graphic design and now uses her skills to edit images for the site as well as design the maps for the area. Think of her as Heart of the West's personal cartographer and unqualified city planner. Fun fact; The Devil's Cradle Saloon used to be called The Blue Larkspur, this is the name of a plant as well as a race horse, a sport Shooter follows closely. Blue Larkspur raced for a stable called Idle Hour, which is the name of the hotel in Woodhurst. Every place on the maps has its own story!
Indy
Indy arrived at HOTW to assist in written aspects of the site as well as moral support and has been role-playing for a decade now. In the past she has written in such genres as fandom, historic, and fantasy. She has a bachelor's degree in history and is currently a high school world geography teacher.

Outside of writing, she enjoys video games and long walks on the beach. ...Not really. She hates the ocean.

Blue
Blue came over to the HoTW to assist with coding and general admin duties. During weekdays there is always an excellent chance that she is lurking about the site as work gives her the flexibility to do so. So if you are about, swing on into the cbox and say hello!

Additionally, Blue is one of those weird math and science people who also enjoys writing, and she has been writing for over ten years. She loves good plotting, character development, and is always a sucker for a happy ending.

Recently taken over and renamed by Irishman Mick O'Shaughnessy, this notorious bar suffered a loss when the original owner passed away, leaving the place to his henchman and barmaid, Mary Murphy. Under the eyes of the lawmen of this increasingly civilized town, Mick isn't too dead set on appeasing anyone who thinks he needs to tone down the rowdy roughnecks that frequent his saloon, much to the chagrin of the upper class.

No New Posts Town

The town of Woodhurst is smaller than Coalchapel and mostly filled with craftsmen, artisans and other people of artistic talent. The town was named after the now defunct Woodhurst Sawmills that destroyed much of the forest in the region but paved the way for mass farming and ranching. Today the town is pretty quiet and also hosts a pretty strong retirement community and is far from the troublesome mines to the south.

No New Posts Chapel Lake

A great place to fish in the summer time and in winter when the water freezes over it's a bit of a town tradition to ice fish as well as skate, the water in the northern part of the lake is shallow and freezes solid for much of the winter.

No New Posts Coppersprings

This area is one of the mining company's worst nightmares, especially when someone happens to unearth a few precious nuggets of gold from its waters. It is rumored by many that the Little Creek Mountains are sitting on a huge vein of gold that could possibly steal away all the coal company's miners and even their funding. When not panning for gold the springs are a popular attraction for swimmers and fishermen trying to hook one of the giant catfish prevalent in these waters.

No New Posts The Camp

All because the miners are underground day all does not mean the camp isn't a constant buzz of activity! The foreman can only pay so many for the day, usually his favorites, so stay on his good side. Those with the day off can spend it however they like; drinking, gambling, fighting, chasing women. Women have their own roles of laundry, cooking and cleaning. On the weekends the place gets downright nuts, until the cavalry shows up.

No New Posts The Mines

Deep in the belly of the mountain, as close to hell as a man can get as he drops down into the shaft with nothing but his pickax and a prayer. With a constant threat of cave-ins, poisonous and flammable gases, the close proximity of highly volatile explosives and even one's fellow miners, it's a dangerous, albeit well-paying, job!

No New Posts Swindler's Ridge

The highest mountain in the area just north-west of the mines this peak is a hotspot for bootlegging, gang hideouts and anything else one can get away with in this lawless place. Outlaws have their own system of trails to get high up into the mountain, a system that has thus far eluded the ears of the law.

No New Posts Rangelands

The open range is rolling green pastureland for the raising for livestock. Rich soil and plenty of water offer great resources for cattle, sheep and horse ranchers alike. Just beware of letting your animals graze too close to farmland, don't wanna get their feathers in a bunch.

No New Posts Croplands

After deviating a few river systems the croplands have really flourished but over the past few years there has been little to no room to expand as the cattle ranches exploded and surrounded the farmland on all sides. The only place safe from the bovine hordes is the Northern Cropland near Woodhurst but land here is very expensive. If it isn't cattle it's the huge number of whitetail deer in the area destroying crops. One is welcome to shoot them, just be careful not to hit a cow in the process!

No New Posts Fort Langden

Righted in 1861 just as The War was breaking out, Fort Langden was proposed when the coal industry really took off and the presence of Natives was a constant threat to the railroad as well as the miners. Today with the threat nearly eradicated the cavalry still stationed here is in charge of restoring order when the ever feuding miners, ranchers and farmers get out of hand.

No New Posts Coppersprings Reservation

The Coppersprings Reservation is the latest attempt by the U.S. government to bring the Natives of the area under control. The reserve is home to a few different tribes relocated from around Wyoming and the surrounding territories. Tribal elders maintain direct leadership of their people, but officers at nearby Fort Langden are ultimately in charge of the area. Patrols from the fort are routinely sent to the reserve to 'keep the peace'.
